Grassroots Mobile Retail + Advocacy Tour · Nevada & California · 30 Days
The Challenge
Charlotte’s Web set out to address a growing disconnect in consumer wellness: demand for full-spectrum CBD products remained strong, but access was increasingly restricted in states like California. The challenge was to create a highly visible grassroots platform focused on California consumers, giving them a way to purchase trusted, non-intoxicating wellness products while raising awareness around consumer choice and access.
The solution needed to operate as both a retail experience and advocacy platform, reaching California consumers close to where access ended while creating enough visibility, conversation, and content to carry the issue beyond the physical tour.
The Idea
Take the conversation directly to the California-Nevada border.
Rather than ask consumers to navigate the access issue on their own, Charlotte’s Web brought its most sought-after full-spectrum CBD products as close to them as possible through Route CBD, a 30-day mobile retail tour designed to turn restricted access into a visible consumer story.
The grassroots model gave the brand the flexibility to show up in high-profile locations along the California-Nevada border, meet longtime customers face-to-face, and create a platform for the people most affected by limited access to tell their own stories. What began as a mobile retail experience became a moving expression of consumer demand, education, and advocacy.
The Execution
Route CBD launched in Las Vegas before traveling north through Reno and Lake Tahoe, strategically positioning the mobile experience in Nevada locations accessible to California consumers. The truck popped up in highly visible destinations throughout the tour, creating opportunities for consumers to purchase Charlotte’s Web full-spectrum CBD products while learning more about the broader access issue.
The tour then shifted from grassroots retail to public statement, traveling into California and culminating with stops in Sacramento, the state capital, and Los Angeles. The route created a natural progression from consumer access at the border to increased visibility in two of the state’s most influential markets.
Content was built into the experience from the start. Video, photography, static social assets, and customer stories were captured throughout the 30 days and featured across Charlotte’s Web Instagram Stories and feed posts. Ten customer testimonials documented the experiences of longtime Charlotte’s Web consumers, giving the access conversation a human voice and showing the lengths people were willing to travel to find the products they relied on.
The Results
Quantitative:
Qualitative:
The strongest proof point was not simply how far the truck traveled, but how far consumers were willing to travel to reach it. California residents drove hours to Nevada stops for access to Charlotte’s Web products, turning the tour’s central message into something tangible.
By combining retail, education, advocacy, content, and real customer testimony, Route CBD gave the access issue a human face. The grassroots format allowed Charlotte’s Web to meet consumers where the issue was most immediate, while the final stops in Sacramento and Los Angeles elevated the program from a mobile retail tour into a broader public statement. The content and earned media extended those stories beyond the road, giving the campaign reach well beyond each physical stop.
Why This Moment Mattered
Access is a policy conversation until you see someone drive hours across a state line for a product they already know and trust.
Route CBD showed how Moment can turn a logistical challenge into a consumer advocacy platform, bringing Charlotte’s Web directly to the places where access ended and making the people affected by that limitation the center of the story. What started as a mobile retail tour became something larger: a visible demonstration of consumer demand, a platform for advocacy, and a reminder that the most powerful brand experiences do not just communicate an issue. They make it impossible to ignore.
